The creative shot that I will be analysing is the famous church fight scene (shot by George Richmond) from the 2014 film Kingsman: The Secret Service (directed by Matthew Vaughn). The scene takes place in a hate group's church in Kentucky, U.S.A, where Kingsman agent, Harry Hart (Colin Firth), tries to uncover the evil plans of billionaire Richmond Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) and what connection he has to this church. Once Valentine sees Hart is in the church he activates his SIM cards, that are held within many of the hate group members phones, that trigger a signal to make everyone in the church become murderously violent. After a large amount of time off college, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we were finally able to come back and start the second, and last, academic year of our course. Along with our teacher, Kelly, announcing to us we would be doing an immersive cinema experience, we were also told we would first be creating a Christmas film during our first term back. The previous year we had worked alongside the Year 2's during the production of their own adaptation of 'A Christmas Carol' and Kelly thought it would be a great idea for us to do our own Christmas film, but there was a twist. We had to create a film that is in the style of a Hallmark Channel 'made for TV Christmas movie'. Due to the restrictions enforced by the Government, we were told that we would mainly be able to film on the college campus rather than a usual on location shoot, so the film had to be in a more modern day setting and time period. The film I have created for my final project is a coming-of-age film called 'Changes' and will be premiering at the Ufilms Film Festival on Thursday 24th June 2021. The film follows two best friends, Katie and Gemma, spending their final day together before Gemma moves away. This is a personal, comedy/drama, that discusses the themes of friendship, family, adolescence and growth/maturity. Since joining the Film and TV Production course at Stockton Riverside College in 2019, I have finally found my passion and love of writing and directing and this is something I want to continue and expand my knowledge on through my education and into, hopefully, my future career in the film industry.
