Practical Experience - Portfolio

Throughout my filmmaking journey on the Film and TV Production course at Stockton Riverside College, I have expanded my knowledge and understanding through research and, most importantly, working on a variety of projects both at college and at home (due to the pandemic). Although it has been a challenging year, I have been able to improve on the filmmaking skills I am most interested in, such as directing and writing, which I hope to continue, develop and enhance through my education and future professional career.

Showreel 2019-2020

This is a showreel I created at the end of my first year on the Film and TV Production course that includes a variety of projects and experimental camerawork from my time at college (uploaded on 3rd April 2020).

Included in this portfolio are what I consider to be my best pieces of work, demonstrating the quality of my work and learning from my time on the Film and TV Production course.

'A Trip Down Memory Lane' - Christmas Advert

'A Trip Down Memory Lane', a John Lewis inspired Christmas advert, was my first big project and assignment on the course. I quickly discovered and developed an interest in directing and writing when I was able to take on these creative lead roles.

'Free Falling' by Leuk - Music Video

I was able to advance my knowledge and experience for the music video 'Free Falling' by up-and-coming artist Leuk, where I was able to be one of the creative leads, Co-Director, creating and developing ideas, as well as the style and narrative of the video.

'The Fault in Our Films' - Podcast

On 'The Fault in Our Films' podcast, I was able to not only learn about another media format and how to create and develop a successful podcast episode, but I was also able to learn a lot about women in the film industry and the lack of recognition and representation for female filmmakers. This is a topic I have become very passionate about since working on this project and I hope to help change the issues of gender inequality in the industry.

'A Little Distance' - Lockdown Short Film

My short film 'A Little Distance' is at the timeframe 3:33

'A Little Distance' is a non-dialogue short film I was asked to create during the first lockdown, centred around the theme of 'isolation'. This was one of my most challenging projects, as I had to work independently, taking on each and every job role involved in filmmaking, and I could only film on the premises of my own home. The film was uploaded on 16th May 2020.

'Holly, Jolly Christmas' - Christmas Film

'Holly, Jolly Christmas', a Hallmark style 'made-for-television' Christmas film, was my first big project in my second year of college. I was able to improve my writing and directing skills, as well as learning how to work in a completely new environment with Covid rules and restrictions set in place. I created and developed the film in December 2020, at the end of our first term in our second, and final, year at college.
