Advanced Filmmaking 101

The task we have been given is to find a film we like and create a trailer for it but, we have to edit this trailer in the style of a different genre. We can do this by using footage from the original theatrical trailers or other footage from the films, sound bites, music that is fitting to the genre, colour grading, filters, etc. This is a great task into the understanding and importance of marketing a films genre, as well as the importance of editing in a film. I have come up with a few ideas: The Goonies (1985): Genres are Family/Comedy/Adventure/Romance - I would like to try changing the genre to Horror Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988): Genres are Family/Comedy/Action/Mystery - I would like to try changing the genre to Noir (in black and white, '40s-'50s style) Once Upon a Time... My Journey Through Film Before I started on the Film and TV Production course at Stockton Riverside, I still never knew what I wanted to do as a future career. I had just been through a rough time with trying to adapt to my new life back here in my hometown, Stockton, as I had lived in Dubai for eleven years. I had left two different colleges as I wasn't coping well with the courses that I was taking, not being interested in them and feeling I couldn't make an enjoyable career out of them, as well as not being able to have the confidence to make friends. At this point, I felt very out of luck with not knowing what I wanted to do in the future and not knowing if I would be able to find a course that I would enjoy. It wasn't until after three months of not knowing what to do I went to an open evening at Stockton Riverside and found out about the Film and TV Production course.
